How it works
ScamSplain looks for the tricks scammers rely on: false urgency, threats, requests for gift cards or wire transfers, demands for passwords or codes, requests to install remote-access software, and web links that pretend to be a trusted company. It combines these checks into a clear risk level and explains each warning sign with the exact wording it found.
What ScamSplain is not
- It is not a guarantee. ScamSplain can miss new or cleverly worded scams, and it never says something is definitely safe.
- It is not legal or financial advice. When money or accounts are involved, verify directly with the company using details you look up yourself.
- It does not act for you. It won’t contact anyone, move money, or recover losses.
Your privacy
When you check a message, we analyze it and then discard it — ordinary checks aren’t saved. We only store something when you choose to submit a scam report, and even then your name and contact details are never shown publicly. Read more in our Privacy Policy.
