What this scam is
A scammer talks you into installing remote-access software so they can control your device from afar. Once connected, they can move your money, read your files, install more software, and hide what they are doing.
What it usually looks like
- A caller asks you to download a tool like AnyDesk or TeamViewer.
- They walk you through installing 'support software' step by step.
- They may black out your screen or tell you not to touch anything.
Common warning signs
- Anyone unsolicited asking to remotely connect to your device.
- Being told to install a specific remote-control app during a call.
